About Our Flower & Plant Art
Botanical work is the one subject that has never gone out of fashion in interiors, and the reason is structural rather than sentimental. Plants provide curved, irregular, growing forms in rooms otherwise made of straight lines, which is the same job an organic abstract does but with a subject people already love.
The range is built rather than printed. Forged iron branches and lotus discs, cut and layered petals, sculpted stems, pressed and formed leaves in metal and acrylic, and woven fibre forms. Wrought iron accounts for a fifth of the collection, which is unusual for a botanical range and gives it a drawn, linear quality that painted florals do not have. Browse the ironwork in iron art and wrought iron wall decor.
Nearly half the collection is organic in treatment and there is a strong Scandinavian strand at around three in ten, so the character is contemporary rather than traditional floral. See the neighbouring ranges in organic art and Nordic art, and the related subject work in animal art.
Most pieces run 80cm or larger with a third passing 160cm. Botanical work suits kitchens, bedrooms and garden rooms, and it is the subject that copes best with a busy wall behind it, since an open branching form reads clearly against pattern where a solid panel would fight it. See the wider range in wall art and wall decor.
Every piece we make is handcrafted to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping. Get in touch if you would like help choosing a piece for a particular wall.
FAQs
Is this printed floral art?
No. The pieces are built: forged iron branches and lotus discs, cut and layered petals, sculpted stems and formed leaves in metal and acrylic. Nearly four in five stand proud of the wall.
Why is so much of it ironwork?
A fifth of the range is wrought iron because forged line suits branching forms particularly well. It gives the work a drawn, linear quality that painted or printed florals cannot achieve, and it casts a shadow pattern of its own.
Is it traditional floral in style?
No. Nearly half the collection is organic in treatment with a strong Scandinavian strand, so the character is contemporary. It reads as sculptural form that happens to be botanical rather than as decorative floral.
Which rooms suit botanical work?
Kitchens, bedrooms and garden rooms most of all. It is also the subject that copes best with patterned wallpaper, because an open branching form reads clearly against pattern where a solid panel would compete with it.
What sizes are available?
Most pieces are 80cm or larger with around a third passing 160cm. Open branching forms scale up well because the negative space does as much work as the metal.
How is it made, and how long does it take?
Every piece is handcrafted to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping.
